Diary 2: Children's Book Fair 2010

Dear blog (and you, dear reader or dear reader )

I'm back from Montreuil!

So for those who do not know Montreuil, the 9-3, you know, the Department ouech-ouech French rap: prejudice: us here: Without Dec, is the eastern suburbs of Paris is not as good as the Champs Elysees but:
1 - there are so many people everywhere
2 - by car is the galley
3 - are priorities right at roundabouts as big as football fields
4 - to 6 are the tracks where périf must-not-be-planted-in-wire: S
what Paris ... (Or whatever I do not like, I prefer small towns).

So there, in a large building on 2 floors was held from December 1 to 6 the Book Fair and the Presse Jeunesse 2010 version ! Personally, I went 2 full days (Saturday-Sunday). I will go day by day trying to get too drunk: D

Map Google Maps
Friday 3
with my girlfriend Jess and sister iwry , we arrive (Difficult) in the capital to 16h (GPS we planted in full before the National Gendarmerie Montreuil ... It's simple, the path of the GPS was an endless loop passing us by way streets! He farted a cable, I tell you! and us!).

Scarcely time to ask the hotel you can leave to spend the rest of the afternoon at the show. Normally, I should not go but saw that it was free from 16.30 for the night (announced yesterday on the website - for once it was used for something ...), Bouarfa much enjoy. We will not spit in the soup.

17h, it is deflowered. We discover the place, huge, and the crowd, already present with many school groups. But it will be worse on Saturday and even Sunday! On Monday morning, they believed that painful but ultimately, there was a lot of people too.

Then you describe the scene, therefore a ground floor and a floor which is divided over a hundred publishers (I have not counted .. . 300 exhibitors according to the brochure). Between the two, an intermediate stage, the " mezzazine "with views of the exhibitors on the ground floor and proposed that stuff to eat, the ability to pee (hallelujah! More miracle, it was free) and chairs if you had sore feet (and tested approved on Monday morning).

When you arrive, you also can leave your coats at the reception (2 € hanger anyway, with 2 coats max per hanger ... When you are 3, like us, you get fucked "). If you bought your tickets on the net at 6 €, you also have to go get a "check-read" (Or reduction) of 4 € to buy a book at the show. It was cheaper than buying tickets on site (which were at 4 €, but without a check-read - ideal for those who know they will not buy anything ... not our kind lol). So much for the formalities!

Returning to the show itself. The atmosphere was good-natured all the way! The fact that it is a living "youth" (children / teens / young adults) gives a colorful and joyful tone to the pits. No big puddle of blood, morbid stuff, or posters sensual in this show is all ages. Although children can sometimes be annoying (it chirps often!), Is that the atmosphere has never disappointed. The people were all there to have fun, it showed.

Anyway, on Friday, we toured the "big" publishing houses, it is Michel Lafon or Hachette Jeunesse. It has also met with Maggie Stiefvater that evening, an American who wrote the saga " Wolves Mercy Falls" (Volume 1 is called "Chill"). She was very nice, as teams (exclusively female) Black Moon and Michel Lafon. It has also been met Francesca, a blogger had already met my sister in law (through their common passion, Twilight).

Saturday 4
First big day! 10h-18h is parti mon kiki! I had two goals that day and they were successful: D

prime goal, to have a dedication of Karim Friha , author-illustrator of Rise of Zelphire in Bayou, a collection of comics Gallimard ( chronic Volume 1 here)! You can see that it is a success! I was super happy, I have exchanged a few words with him, moreover, the time it draws my old professor Werner. Great meeting!

Dedication Karim Friha

second objective attend one of two sessions of the theatrical Emerald Knights ! I missed the first because it was during the previous dedication but the second was just after (waiting for 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and 15:45 to represent approximately 17h). Is not counting the initial and final presentations, an hour theatrical fantasy youth! The Knights are Quebecois and French (especially Quebecois, I have not heard too much of French accents ...). It was very funny and nice to see. The beginning is a little soft because there are many characters but As I made taste and I enjoyed (even if at the same time, I got the spoiler on Volume 12 of the Knights of me ... Emerald is finished the volume. .. 2! Well, okay, I forgot where I come back to that time playing).

Day was also an opportunity to see several livraddictien (ne) s on the show: Hecla (exactly as I imagined;)), Mallou (bigger than I imagined, I have the looks small: D), Fairy Bourbonnaise (more blond than I thought I saw you brown!) Aily and Flo_boss (which I had not seen any pictures before so 2 new faces to remember - which is very hard for me, I'm not physiognomist for a penny!).

Sunday 5
Second big day! We stayed so late because they were beginning to tire. The crowd, it's tired! On the stand Delcourt, impossible to stop and read the comics / comics, pushing it too!

C'te day was a bit more challenging. We redid the tower stands. Jess has discussed this with his contacts in preparation for the next Livraddict Livraddict Mag (No. 5, already!) Dedicated to vampires! It is looking good at this level ... I will not say more. She also did some interviews. During that time, I glandouillais : D

But I had my second autograph lounge with Didier Van Cauwelaert to the saga Thomas Drimm (Albin Michel Jeunesse - I chronicled here recently - Volume 2 in reading now). I dared not speak to him because he is quite impressive and there were people waiting behind but he seemed sympathetic.

Dedication Didier Van Cauwelaert
The author of Oscar Pill, Eli Anderson, who was next to him, is equally important. Since we invited him at a party on the forum Livraddict, Jess has been hit on the chat with him. It is very smiling and also said they enjoyed the discussion with the members (even if she was trying to navigate with any questions apparently ^ ^). In any case, it is no big head, he could given the number of fans who waited for a dedication to 14h! Pffiou! Y had even hopping on the spot, I thought she would faint xD

was also able to welcome Peter Pevel in the magnificent stand Bragelonne , another author on being invited to his saga of Livraddict Cardinal's Blades! Very nice too (I must admit, it's hard to see that pull the mouth ...). After 24 hours of hesitation, I also decided to purchase the collector's version "Bragelonne 10 years" the first novel by David Gemmell " Legend "(Author I can not wait to find out)! Milady, with a little more the first book in the saga of David Wellington zombie: Zombie Island ! Mouarf!

My Purchases WE! I was very reasonable:)

level meeting of the blogosphere, Jess- too-strong also recognized on the famous blogger George (thank you facebook) accompanied its small end-of-chou and Hedgehog, his first officer on the show. Belle also found it funny to put a face to a nickname:)

aprem Sunday was also the opportunity to squat a little stand Michel Lafon. I hope we did not too bothered. Were small cakes and more, we could not resist (made by Ferrari Carla, the young author (15 years!) Of "The kitchen Carla ) was above its good cakes chocolate and cookies!

Finally, squatting not like it, Jess was to interview the young and shy Marie Caillet (U19) who released his first novel "The Legacy of Darce " . Also, I forgot ... the morning, she had the interview with India Desjardins , a Quebec author who has a great success in Quebec with "The Diary of Aurélie LaFlamme. I arrived at the end of the interview but I could see the video, she is super nice and super! It in great shape, it's nice to see people so happy. With Anne Robillard, Knights of Emerald and India, we can say that the weekend was very Quebecois!

Monday 6
Not much to sink our teeth, we just made a last lap to say goodbye! Oh, we could at least see Fabrice Colin , the hunk of her ladies:) But p ERSO was the morning too, I was eager to "chrisse my camp," returning to Belgium, see my dogs running around the 10cm of snow fell on Sunday! :36-15: my: plou-yet-personal-life:
.
Anyway, a nice weekend with lots of sponsors and exhibitors nice. In 2011, do I return? Hmm, there is a good chance if the atmosphere is like!

soon for new adventures and new readings! Bye!

Baba
