The story begins (at least a year and a half) after the events of the end of season 7 , placing the story about the last half of 2004 and after the events of season 6 of Angel in comics.
Season 8 of Buffy highlights the fact that there are now thousands of vampire slayer and that choice has upset the "balance cosmic" between good and evil. The Scooby gang is fighting against a powerful enemy, so that directly addresses the Slayers. (Source: Wikipedia)

My opinion:
Having loved the series-TV, I could not pass next to a comic book on Buffy! Especially since it is a real Following written by series creator, Joss Whedon , and therefore keeping a little bit values of the series (from Volume 2 vf, other authors such as Brian K. Vaughan , the author famous Y The Last Man , take the place of Whedon ... do not read that, I can tell you the direction it takes ...).
In any case, in this early season 8 comic, and we keep the same one again. Having no restrictions or technical budget, Joss Whedon is loose and willing to go even later in the fantastic fight by his Slayers cons immense creatures or whole armies of monsters. The laws of physics are also a problem (everybody knows that flying humans to the TV or the movies, is the hardest thing to do ... the evidence in Smallville, it not only about history but also special effects and budget that Clark does not always fly in season 10 ... In Lois & Clark, he steals but this is ridiculous and outdated level realism) . The witches are no longer retained and fly at will, sending larger mines good magic. Ca, it is quite fun, it keeps some fun . "Oh yes, and Dawn is a giant!" : D
level characters, found mostly Buffy and Xander , installed in a castle in Scotland since the destruction of Sunnydale. They form the Slayers to train to fight with the help of the elderly. Their group forms a sort of army against the Forces of Evil, it's over the small gang, then we move to the big global organization! Giles handles a team in England and Andrew Italy. We see them occasionally. Our dear magician, Willow , also comes from the episode 2, bringing his many talents to defeat the enemy!
the side of evil , we also few surprises with the return of familiar characters in the series. I do not say that, I give you a surprise. I can tell you cons by a new character in the person of General Voll will not organize Buffy in her heart. Overseeing research in the crater of the Mouth of Hell, he'll look at Slayers groups of terrorist cells ...
Level design is fairly uneven . Some boards are weak but overall it's nice to read. This is not the strong point of the comics say, but the main characters are easily recognizable even when the colors are well chosen. Note that some blankets are wonderful (including the one shown in Volume 1 vf, love).
short, a good comic book series that I will continue to read and I recommend it to anyone who liked the series! I warn you though, is the comics, even if you keep the characters and continuity in the dialogue, the action is necessarily more excessive than in the series.
